Lullaby

This lullaby we sing for you,
Our dearest child, who never grew
From a soft flowering in the womb,
Your living home, your weeping tomb.

We’ll never hold you in our arms,
Nor share your joys, nor soothe your harms;
But your flesh, blind to our day’s light,
We trust to resurrection sight.

Your spirit, small one, has returned
To God the Father, whose love yearned
For you before eternity,
This tender glory you now see.

This lullaby we sing for you,
Our dearest child, with angels who
Delighting in the sabbath rest
Rejoice you wake on Jesus’s breast.

'Tis the season of giving

Today I feel especially good about the holidays! My friend/co-worker Diane has adopted a family for Christmas and asked for any donations towards their gifts that we could afford. With the economy as it is things are tight for everyone this year especially, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to help much. However, my wonderful boss (seriously the best boss anyone could ever ask for!) usually gives us all a little something for the holidays and asked us all if we wanted to go buy toys for 'Toys-for-Tots' or some other organization instead of just keeping the money for ourselves... we all agreed that it was something we would like to do.
Then Diane suggested that if anyone would like to donate to her family in need she would be grateful, and as it turns out everyone ended up donating their holiday gift to her. So this morning her and I went out and bought some goodies for this family in need. There are two girls being brought up by their single mother, who works at Del Taco... so you can imagine what a struggle that must be!
I just have such a good feeling about what a difference we're going to make for this family this Christmas! With so many families struggling just to make ends meet today it really is the time to help in any way you can.
May your holidays be bright and full, and for the travelers may you be safe.
Love to all and Merry Christmas!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

It's finally starting to feel like winter here in Tucson, and only eight days before Christmas! Don't get me wrong I love that the winters here are mild... but there is something inside me that always wishes for a little bit of the idyllic 'White Christmas' that you see on all the greeting cards and classic Christmas movies. Then I think of all the layers of clothing and preparation it must take to just get out of the house let alone with a child and I'm thankful again for the wonderful weather we have.

Last year Christmas was here in Tucson because I was extremely pregnant and so close to my due date that I couldn't travel anywhere. It was a good thing we didn't go anywhere either because my wonderful little boy was born on Christmas morning. I guess he just couldn't wait to meet us and to get some presents!

This year Robert, Logan and I are going to My sister's to spend Christmas with my family. I can't wait to have us all together again... we don't get together often enough! *Hint hint* I am grateful for my sister (and her family) who is willing to host and house all of us over the holiday, and I'm so happy that it works out for everyone to be able to make it down from Page as well!

From our family to yours...

May all of you have a wonderful holiday season that is full of family, friends, and love!

Merry Christmas!

'and so the lion fell in love with the lamb'

So, I had heard things here and there about this book -Twilight- and how good it was. When I found out it was about a teenage girl who fell in love with a vampire I wasn't really hyped to read it anymore. Time went on and I thought nothing of it, until news of a movie... As everyone knows, books are always better than the movies, and this movie looked like it would be alright. So I went out to buy said book on a Sunday afternoon...

I have to say, it was much much better than I expected! I couldn't put it down and I finished it by lunch time on Tuesday. And like everyone else I craved more... so what did I do? I went out and bought the three books -New Moon, Eclipse, & Breaking Dawn- that follow in the series. They were just as good if not better due to content. Needless to say, but I couldn't put them down and finished them faster than I have any other books... I had read the whole series in about a week. I know, I know... I need some professional help...

Well, as it turns out I got to go see the movie with my friend Jodi and her 15 year old daughter Alyssa. I'll admit that I was as excited as Alyssa was... I got to spend a couple of hours with the Cullins' and of course Edward. I have to say I did enjoy the movie, even with all the rumors of disappointment. As with any movie based on a novel it never is exactly the same nor does it contain all the little details and images you get while reading. With this one in particular, I felt that had you not read the book you might not have understood the subtleties and inside jokes that were more thoroughly explained in the book. All in all I give both the Books and the movie two tumbs up, and I hope the rest of the series is given a green light for film as well.

Attack of the Smashed Potatoes!

We started out nice and clean, but I took his clothes off because I just knew it would be a mess.

He wasn't quite sure what to do with all that food in front of him.

Mommy helped himg get things started...

Having fun trying it out by himself.

Rolls...

Not sure about the cranberries yet...

Wait for it...

Mmm, finger lickin' good!

What is this talk about pie?!!?

Look at that belly!

Who here needs a bath after dinner?

I am happy to say that all the food came off the face and out of the hair. All in all it was a wonderful day filled with laughs, family, friends, food, fun, and love... what more can you ask for?
